Passing stool frequently

Asked for Female, 52 Years

My mother has been having this problem of gas and then an urge to pass stool. Although it is not diarrhea but it happens 3-4 times a day. Earlier she was diagnosed with infection in liver and was under medication (ciplox and cefixime) . Need advice on how to manage this.

Hi there...you will need certain investigations to rule out other causes...investigations are ultrasound abdomen,liver function test,blood tests like complete heamogram,stool examination etc...if it is due to IBS There is no specific treatment of this disease. It can be controlled by altering diet pattern,psychological therapy and medicines. You can take course of antibiotics containing Ofloxacin and Ornidazole twice daily for five days...Consult nearest gastroenterologist they will do the needful.
