Premature ejaculation has multiple causes. Depending upon the cause of premature ejaculation the treatment is given.
Paroxetine is a good medication and can be given even if you're not engaging in sexual intercourse. But other techniques need to be practiced and learnt alongside this medication.
Paroxetine also takes 6-8 weeks to show effect, maybe that's why he started this medication now.
