Hi, This pain can be due to either pinched nerve in spine or buttock. Improper blood supply to leg can also be cause. At times knee arthritis patients can also present like this. But examining patient and reviewing investigations are needs for final root cause analysis.

Hello, there are two important causes for pain in leg ,one due to vascular occlusion. Arterial occlusion in the peripheral artery causes pain . Other is nerve injury- Neuralgia is a sharp, shocking pain that follows the path of a nerve and is due to irritation or damage to the nerve. Increased sensitivity of the skin along the path of the damaged nerve, so that any touch or pressure is felt as pain. In that cases consult neurologist first because its not problem cured in one day with medicines.
