Your mother seems to be having Plantar fascitis. It's the inflammation of the Plantar fascia in the sole of the foot. This could be due to flat foot or pronated heel or merely tightness of the calf muscles and plantar fascia. This can be assessed by a Physiotherapist or an Orthopaedic and be easily remediated.
