Pain and swelling in thumb's nail.
Hello I'm Mayank, my mother has pain and swelling on her right hand thumb she told me that the pain is because of nail I mean that part of nail which is connected to skin so that's why her whole thumb is paining too much also it has swelling. Kindly please help me. Thanks.

Hello Mayank. Considering that the only symptoms of the patient are pain and swelling of the thumb it might probably due to regular household work. The following should be sufficient: Tab Chymoral forte twice daily x 5 days ( 1/2 hr before food) Tab Ultracet semi twice daily x 5 days (after food) Tab Rantac 150 mg twice daily x 5 days (before food)

If there is fever, pus from thumb nail or any other symptoms please send us the picture of the thumb to add any further medication.

its more likely to paronychia which develops around the nail it occurs when bacteria or fungus gets under the skin its not much serious condition and it reduces effectively with treatment depending upon the severity
