Pain and swelling underarm with soft tis
Considering my history of a benign breast fibroadenoma diagnosed six years ago in both breast, which caused intermittent pain and was managed without medication, and my subsequent inability to produce breast milk after giving birth in 2021, I have found recent firm, soft swelling and burning sensation in my right armpit and breast, accompanied by fatigue, be related to a recurrence of the fibroadenoma, an inflammatory process, or another underlying condition?

Please consult a General Surgeon in your area for a physical examination. From your description, you will need a sonomammography. It may be followed by FNAC Further management will depend on the cause found. In the 21st Century we don't come to a conclusion purely on hunch.

Recurrence of fibroadenoma Fibroadenomas can recur or new ones can develop, especially in younger women. 2. Breast infection / inflammation (mastitis, abscess, blocked duct, even without lactation) Can cause swelling, pain, burning, sometimes associated with fatigue/fever. 3. Axillary lymph node enlargement Due to infection, inflammation, or (rarely) malignancy. 4. Breast malignancy (needs to be ruled out at this age) New lump/swelling with burning or persistent pain should always be investigated to exclude breast cancer. --- ✅ What to Do Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) by a surgeon or breast specialist. Breast + Axilla Ultrasound (first-line, safe, quick). Mammogram (age >35, recommended if ultrasound shows suspicious features). FNAC / Biopsy if any suspicious lump is detected. --- ⚠️ Red Flags (need urgent check) Lump is hard, irregular, or fixed. Swelling persists or grows. Nipple discharge (especially bloody). Skin dimpling, redness, or retraction. Persistent fatigue, weight loss. --- 👉 In summary This could be a benign recurrence (fibroadenoma) or inflammatory process, but because of your age (36) and the presence of new swelling in breast + axilla, it is essential to rule out malignancy. The next step should be consulting a breast surgeon for examination + ultrasound/mammogram.

New swelling, firmness, and burning in your breast and armpit could be a recurrence of fibroadenoma, an inflammatory process, or another breast condition. Even if it’s likely benign, any new lump or persistent pain should be evaluated promptly. An ultrasound and clinical examination are recommended to confirm the cause and guide next steps.
