Open heart surgery
Hello Doc, My mom had open heart surgery a week back. Her valve was not working and was replaced by a metallic valve. Now post operation, she has lost her appetite and sleep. Is this common? What can be done to improve her appetite and sleep issues. Thank you in advance. Regards, Deepa

Usually when in ICU post surgery, it's difficult to maintain sleep timings and it's take some time to adjust for them after discharge, ask her not to sleep during daytime and expose her to sunlight, it should settle.

Probably this is due to side-effects of medicine she is on. Also anxiety is a cause. Some medicines can help
