Tingling (twinkling sensation) on one side of the body â affecting both the hand and leg on the same side â is something that needs to be taken seriously. When tingling and weakness occur on the same side together, it can point to a nervous system issue rather than just a local nerve or muscle problem.
The most common causes to rule out in a young woman:
1. Vitamin B12 deficiency â very common, causes tingling and weakness. Get a B12 and Vitamin D test done urgently.
2. Cervical spine issue â a compressed nerve in the neck can cause symptoms in both the arm and leg on one side.
3. Neurological conditions â one-sided tingling + weakness in young females needs an MRI of the brain and spine to rule out anything more serious.
Please do not ignore this or just rely on supplements without getting checked. Please consult a neurologist soon â describe exactly which side is affected and how long it has been happening. They will guide you on whether an MRI or nerve conduction study is needed.
In the meantime, get CBC, B12, Vitamin D, and blood sugar checked.
