Asking for 61 year old women- was taking oleanz under doctor guidance.. Was gradually decreasing the dosage from 20 mg per day to 5 mg and have completely stopped it.. However there was a gap in taking the medicine for 9 days while taking 5 mg.. Will there be any side effects. Concerned.. Please advise

Tapering the dose gradually generally do not have any added side effect however we have to take a close look at symptoms of the patient as there is possibility of recurrence or flaring up of the symptoms for which the drug was given.however, detail clinical history is required.

If the medication is tapered and stopped under supervision there should not be a problem. the rate of reduction of dose could be decided by the doctor based on individual needs
