If you are living near Noida, i suggest you come once to my clinic i.e. Eminent Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Center Pvt. Ltd. Before surgery you should try Physiotherapy once which is quite effective in relieving pain. Also, we have a very advanced treatment protocol for treating OA knee(available at only our center) and it is 70 to 80% successful. Considering your mother's age, the results will be fast as compared to older age groups.
Next Steps
Once the pain is relieved via physiotherapy, strengthening exercises for the knee shall be started so that the patient is able to manage their condition well.
Health Tips
1)Before surgery please try Physiotherapy.
2)45 years of age is not too late.
3)Even if you still plan for surgery, You will be required to take Physiotherapy post-surgery for at least 2 to 3 months as bending the knee after surgery requires help of a Physiotherapist
4) Strengthening exercises taught in Physiotherapy relieve the joint of the stress it is bearing which is leading to pain.
5)Surgery should be taken as the last resort when no other means is working.
6)Normal human knee joints are much better than artificial ones.
