Hi there, the symptoms you mentioned can be a part of common mental health issues like OCD, or depression. However, before coming to a diagnosis, a detailed evaluation must be done and then only medications should be optimised.
Next Steps
Consult a psychiatrist (after explaining to your son about the evaluation)

Hi there, A detailed medical and psychiatric history is always needed for every patient. In addition, a detailed mental status examination is also recommended for every patient to come to a diagnosis and the management of the case accordingly. Whether the child is having Obsessions and compulsive behaviour is not very clear from that description. But if interested in doing anything is really a matter of concern.. Do take the help of a mental health professional as soon as possible.
