OCD is about rigid beliefs and compulsive behaviour. There is a connection that a person connects for thoughts with actions. These are followed by anxiety reducing compulsive or safety behaviours. The key is to stop this cycle by targeting the obsessions and compulsions with different techniques. Also exposure and different type of graded techniques might be required in 8-10sessions there can be very high relief to the client. As OCD is under the umbrella of Anxiety sometimes meds may be required or help in faster recovery. Brain is a physical part of body and there has been evidence that with MRI scans and latest research that there is difference of brain structure physically due to mental disorders.
