I agree with many of the other practitioners who have responded that medication along with counseling/therapy would be very beneficial. medicines would address the chemical imbalance, but it is the psychotherapy/counseling that will help to learn and practice the appropriate thinking and behavioral strategies that will help cope with the obsessions and compulsions.
Next Steps
make a note of the triggers/situations that activate the obsessions and compulsions, use a thought diary to write down what your thoughts are in the situation. these will help you understand your triggers. in addition also download some mental health apps like wysa that help you to practice certain patterns of thinking that will be useful.
Health Tips
the above are temporary strategies that will help to chart out the problem. it is not suggested as a subsitute to counseling and therapy. when you are ready, approach a qualified and trained therapist who will help you through this problem.
Hi
Medications along with psychotherapy treatment will work for ocd problem. You have to constantly follow the counselling sessions then only can see the improvement. It will take some time to cure. So pls consult with a Psychologist for further procedure.
Hi... Treatment of OCD and other Psychiatric Disorders have a defined treatment protocol which includes a combination of medication and psychotherapy. Most people either visit a professional once or twice and form an opinion which is not scientific. This doesn't help. If one wants him/herself to be treated, s/he has to follow the complete protocol. Some Psychiatric disorders cannot be cured completely but can be brought down to manageable level where they no longer impact the individuals daily life functioning.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist and a Psychiatrist.
CBT will work well in your case.
