NT scan without double marker
My wife is on week 10 of pregnancy and our gynaecologist asked her to take only a NT scan on week 12. Later I got to know from one of my relatives that they had done NT scan along with Double marker test on their week 12. Is the double marker test needed for us as well ? Which is better NT Scan or double marker ?

Hi. NT SCAN and double marker are both different type of tests. NT scan will test you about any deformity your baby might have by looking for physical appearance defects. And double marker will test the blood of the mother to look for the defect. Both tests together will give you a much better result than either of them alone.
Next Steps
get both the tests done.

The NT scan and the double marker test both are screening tests .the predictability of both tests are different.but the positive predictability of both the tests as combined screening protocols are much better ( almost certain).so better to do both

Yes double marker and NT will give more information of how baby is and if there is any problem with the baby. It's better to do both NT and double marker
