NSAIDs. Is it harmful?.
Hi, I am dealing with jaw and neck pain for 1.5 years. No relief yet. Have seen dentists, ENT, neuro doctor, OMFS etc. No definite diagnosis and relief yet. I was given different medication like antibiotics, steroids, muscle relaxers, nerve medicine too see if it helps. Nothing helped. Then my doctor told me to take NSAIDs for pain when needed. Then I started taking ibuprofen 200mg as needed for pain( not everyday). Taken on and off during the last 1. 5 years.. Will take one 200mg a day. Didn't take everyday. Now I am worried if that much is NSAIDs are harmful to my health? How much of NSAIDs are normal? My recent blood work for liver and kidney test are done in December 2020. Everything normal except little high ALT value. Doctor wasn't concerned about it and said nothing about that result. Too much of NSAIDs harmful?

Yes... NSAIDS in long term are definitely harmful. Try to take them only when needed. The commonest side effects you are likely to see are acidity and other gastric problems. Liver and kidney don't get damaged so early. So, need not worry about slightly elevated liver enzymes.

Anything in excess is harmful. Yes, NSAIDs are harmful in excess. You can try physiotherapy for the pain And is it only on the neck or other areas as well. Also depends on the kind of work you do Please consider taking a consultation
