Hi, thank you for reaching out. I can imagine the distress this must be causing you as a parent, and it’s a great step to approach help. Consulting a counselling psychologist to discuss this in detail might help as they’re trained in developmental aspects, and also in identifying other psychosocial aspects. As parents, modelling communication by being more vocal could help and providing unconditional positive regard and reinforcements for his behaviours.

It can be delayed speech milestone. It needs to be ruled out by an expert psychologist. There are few psychological tests to understand the exact cause and diagnose the same. It can be well treated with occupational therapy if required and homeopathic medicine effectively. You need an expert psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.

Speech delay in children is not uncommon. To begin with, please consult a speech therapist and ascertain the causes for your child's delay in speech development. While I am not suggesting even remotely that your child may have them, I would recommend confirming that there are no Autism Spectrum Disorder issues with the child, just to rule it out. As an initial step, please begin discussing the issues with your child's paediatrician in detail and get an opinion, including on the need for consulting a speech therapist or autism assessment. Speech delay gets corrected over time in most cases. But what I am suggesting is for ruling out any remote possibilities of any unknown conditions.

It's great you have reached out to professionals on Practo. Your 4+-year-old's lack of interest in answering questions might be influenced by various factors. To better understand the specific reasons behind your child's reluctance to engage in verbal communication, you should consult with a child counselor or a speech-language therapist in person. They have the expertise to assess developmental milestones and provide guidance tailored to your child's needs. They can explore potential factors such as sensory processing, social communication skills, or other developmental aspects that might influence verbal communication. They can also offer strategies and activities to encourage your child's interest in verbal interactions.

I appreciate your initiative in reaching out for guidance. It would be advisable to schedule an appointment  with a qualified child psychologist. Through clinical observation and assessment, they can offer valuable insights  and provide tailored interventions. Speech therapy by a qualified speech therapist would be beneficial for speech and language development. In the meantime, creating a supportive environment at home will be helpful.
Next Steps
consult with a child psychologist and speech therapist

Remember that every child is unique, and their journey requires individualized support and understanding.
