I recently had a severe Nose Bleed that was hard to get to stop and it lasted for 2 days...They packed it which stopped the bleeding...My concern is that it will just start bleeding again at anytime...I have never had Nosebleeds and I do not know what could have caused...Shouldn't the ENT check it out to see where the bleed was coming from and then cauterize that area ? I believe it was a posterior bleed...It was a very heavy bleed and the heavy packing was the only way they could get it to stop

Ideally in any case epistaxis diagnostic nasal endoscopy needs to be performed to identify area of bleeding. In diffuse bleeding just packing for couple of days is sufficient but if it is small artery which is bleeding then cauterization is ideal though packing also works. Cause needs to be identified if bleeding reccurs which may be hypertension, nose infection, bleeding disorder etc
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
