Non persistent fever

Asked for Female, 55 Years

I has non persistent fever for 8 days .temperature is 99 and morning 100. Sometimes it has raised till 103.she had shivering 3 days back.admitted in hospital.her platelet count on initial day was 1.5 lackhs. Yesterday it was 1.2 .now she has loose motion too.headachesometimes.excessive tiredness.doctor says it is normal viralfever only.i am afraid

Hi, It may occur in viral fever also, but since you have fever is for 8 days it needs to be investigated in detail. If you can share her reports and details about her clinical history, may guide you accordingly. Few investigations which should be done are blood culture, urine routine microscopy and culture, widal test, malaria antigen test, complete blood count, liver and renal function test.
