You can start walking on plaster from day 1 with knee in extension.
Knee bending is started after 6 weeks on removal of plaster with minimal pain and xray showing signs of union.
You can walk now also, but with the help of walker. And probably the orthopaedic surgeon will put a cast.
After three weeks, if the fracture is not displaced, then you can start putting weight on the leg, but bending will be started only after six weeks. Note that the risk of a non-operative treatment is that the fracture can displace later and you may require surgery.
