What is the size of the lesion ..do u have any other symptoms?get thyroid function test done … to know the functioning of u r thyroid gland then decide on the management
Usually based on size your treatment plan changes
If a small leison of up to 10mm we can wait and watch
If the size is more then 2 cm you need to undergo hemi thyroidectomy
Thyroid nodules once formed will not reduce in size
If there is a malfunctioning thyroid (increased or decreased thyroid secretion), medications can reduce the demand on thyroid gland. thus reducing the appearance of further nodules and preventing the existing nodule from growing.
If there is an autoimmune entity, nodules can appear irrespective of medications.
Single Benign nodule with a size less than 1cm can be followed up with examination every 3months with or without an ultrasound scan.
