Muscle spasms will not be primary cause of neck pain. There may be muscle imbalance at neck region because of which some muscles become weak, following which other muscles need to overexert. Which makes them prone for spasm and pain. Medicine will be effective to relive spasm temporary. You need to do neck muscle exercises to improve balance. You should consult a Physiotherapist immediately.
