Nasal spray for allergy+ breastfeeding
I was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis and broncial asthma and used Furamist AZ nasal spray and Foracort 200 inhaler tubes respectively for 2 months continuously. While I have to use inhaler occasionally, I never have to use nasal spray again after that. But in February 2023, I delivered a baby and after delivery, I am suffering from nasal allergy again on almost daily basis now. I am breastfeeding my baby so I am concerned about safety of my child. Please suggest can I take Furamist AZ on daily basis if required or if there is any better and safer alternative. Please help.

Trust your ENT Specialist. Inhaled and intranasal corticosteroid sprays are absolutely safe both during pregnancy and in lactating mothers. There is a cohort study done on 20,000+ pregnant mothers and their children studied over 20 years, published back in 2006-07, which proves beyond doubt, that these medicines are safe both in the mother and in the child.
