There is nothing like that we can predict the life expectancy after diagnosis of COPD. It varied from person to person, their current lung function and their risks of frequent worsening of the COPD aka “Lung attack”. Consult a pulmonologist to get tested her for her lungs capacity and to optimise the treatment. I do have 96 years of COPD patient on my follow up and he is doing well. So don’t worry
Hi. I understand your concern. COPD can be treated with proper medications. Do a online consult for a detailed analysis of symptoms and reports to suggest you further management plan and treatment prescription for the same
COPD is a progressive disease if right treatment is given ie phenotypic management can lead a normal life but with medication
COPD is not a cancer disease to predict life expectancy
COPD is a preventable and treatable disease
Medication cannot reverse the condition only stops it's progression to complications most important being
1.respiratory failure/corpulmonale
2.cardiac complications
These are the complications which has high mortality
Some times there might be overlap with other disease/comorbidities which can further complicate the condition
Next Steps
should consult a pulmonologist who knows the subject
Health Tips
smoking is the leading cause of COPD one should stop smoking at the earliest which will reduce the progression of the disease
COPD is progressive disease. So periodical assesement and adequate management is to be followed.
Life expectency depends on many more parameters and COOD management.
Next Steps
Follow management protocol for gud controll and dont think for life expectency .. its varies.
