The most common causes of delayed healing could be : 1 Infection: If bacteria enter the site of the break, it can prevent proper healing. Inadequate blood flow to the bone: - Separation of the fractured ends of the bone: The bones may not have been set close enough for union, or may have separated after stabilization. 2 Inadequate stabilization of the fracture: Stabilization is one of the key parts of treating broken bones. If the fracture wasn't able to be set properly, a nonunion might result. Sometimes a cast is not enough, and the fracture must be stabilized with screws, rods, plates, etc

Hello there,,,,sorry to hear about your mother...where exactly has she fractured her leg? And how was it managed...what surgery was done...or only plaster cast was put? You need to be more careful as more than 8 months have passed since the fracture and it has not healed.
Next Steps
visit the orthopaedic surgeon who operated on your mother at the earliest....and my sincere advice to you is get a second opinion regarding the case if you are not happy with the treating orthopadecian.
Health Tips
can you please upload the xray/mri of the pre and post fracture images to me...along with the wound image to get a better idea. Regards & take care.

It seems your mother may be having a non-union of the fracture if it is not healing. A wound over the area could mean the non-union could be infected. This is a complex problem with a long treatment course which may involve further surgery. She needs to be under the care of a good orthopaedic surgeon.
Next Steps
