My father in law is addicted to finding gold and spent hell lot of money

I agree with Dr Manvee. Needs assessment for Bipolar Disorder. Under the mental health law if he is unwilling for treatment, you will need the help of relatives or police to take for treatment. No One can be treated forcibly. You may need a magistrates reception order. Section 20 of MHC 1987
