My dad have depression
How can I help a depressed person? He can't even get up from bed and barely talk to us. He doesn't wanna get help either.

Dear mam Thank you for your query. I can imagine as a family member it must be quite tough for you. He definitely need a detailed evaluation and Treatment . You can help him by convincing him to see a psychiatrist.if you have a family doctor talk to him about your dad's condition and request him to convince your dad to see a psychiatrist. You can help him by taking to him about how he is feeling, making sure he is eating and drinking well, try and keep him engaged as much as possible. Thanks Dr Ankita Mishra

Seems like he urgently needs help. Just take help from friends or family members and admit him in a tertiary care hospital such as NIMHANS and consider psychotherapy for a long term solution.

Feeling low, having crying spells, sleep and appetite disturbances, and difficulty in concentration and attention are some of the signs of Depression. Consult a Psychiatrist for a detailed assessment. It is likely with medication and counselings the symptoms will improve. If he is feeling suicidal or hopeless consult a Psychiatrist immediately.
