Multinodular goiter
I have been diagonised with multi nodular goiter. It is benign, enlarged thyroid lobes with multiple solid and cystic nodules.Both the lobes shows hypo to isoechoic nodules of varting size, somecystic changes within.No calcification or abnormal vascularity.The largest nodule on the right side measures 1.5*1.4. The left lobe lesion shows a large cystic component measuring 1.9*1.5 cm with internal fine echoes. No significant cervical lymphnodes noted. Both parotids and submandibular salivary glands are normal in size Common carotids are normal Let me know if i need to undergo surgery.

The management of MNG depends on your symptoms... Over time usually MNG enlarges and can cause toxic high levels of thyroid or may cause pressure symptoms or may cause cosmetically unsightly appearance. For complicated MNG thyroidectomy needs to be done. Kindly consult with your treating doctor for the same. Some can be managed without surgery in the early phases of MNG.
