I had an MRI for both my ankles 3 days ago.I have stiffness and swelling in my both ankles for the last 9 months. So my rheumatologist ordered an MRI of both ankles. During the MRI, they gave me headphones to wear. I was laying on 2 pillows and my neck wasn't comfortable during the scan. But I managed to lay down for the entire scan.
During the scan, I noticed some crawling /vibrating/electric sensation on the forehead above the left eyebrow area. It felt for 2 seconds and then stopped. I didn't ask them to stop the scan as the sensation stopped in 1-2 seconds.
After that no electric or vibration or crawling sensation after that. Only discomfort like soreness and tenderness in the area above left eyebrow and forehead. Is this because of MRI or any damage from the MRI itself?
My head was outside the MRI scanner ring. I don't know why that weird sensation happened in the forehead. Is this common with MRI? Should I check with doctor about this or wait to see if it occurs again?

An ankle MRI does not normally cause a new forehead sensation, so it is unlikely to be from the scan itself. Persistent ankle stiffness and swelling for 9 months needs assessment for inflammatory arthritis and review of the MRI report. Seek urgent care for sudden weakness, facial droop, speech or vision change, or a severe headache.
