I had a minor stroke due to haemorrhage in 2018
No problems as such I am fine
Now due to irregular and heavy periods my doctor has suggested mirena but I am concerned if this will effect my immune system or blood pressure
I had a pelvic ultrasound done and also dNc these went fine
Please advise should I keep it naturally until menopause or consider mirena
I am already stressed about monitoring my blood pressure
Currently it's usually normal

Hi good morning.
If you menstrual symptoms are controlled with non hormonal tablets orally then plz go for tablets.
If it's not controlled with medication Mirena is safe. You need not worry if your BP is normal.
Be cautious.

Mirena is very safe and has no effect on blood pressure
Take low salt diet and avoid preserved and tinned foods
Avoid lifting weights and stress
Take plenty of water and fruits juice
Avoid fast food
Get ultrasound every 6 months when Mirena is placed to check its position
Mirena is a harmone containing intra uterine device which will reduce heavy periods by its action locally .hence systemic effects are less which is necessary for u due to ur past history.
If u don't get ur heavy periods sorted out u will end up in anaemia and it's complications.
More a as a progesterone releasing device will affect the risk of vascular episodes in a person like you with hypertension and history of stroke.please have a thorough discussion about the risks and benefits before going for it
