Hello,
The cyst is due to the infection with tooth number 22, so the infection within the tooth needs to be controlled before removal of the cyst and also avoid recurrence. It takes 14 days for the metapex to act.
Slight pain and discomfort is normal. You don't need to take medicines for 14 days,If the pain is excessive contact your dentist immediately.
Health Tips
Avoid touching the area near the nose.
Avoid hot compressions or applying balm in the area.
Your doctor’s treatment plan is appropriate.
Metapex is placed before surgery to reduce infection and inflammation around the root and cyst. This helps control bacteria, calm the area, and improves surgical healing, even when surgery is already planned.
Tooth 22 is close to the nasal area, so mild nose-side pain can occur after Metapex placement and usually settles with painkillers in a few days.
The 14-day waiting period allows the medicine to work effectively before completing RCT and doing surgery.
After surgery, painkillers are usually needed for 3–5 days and antibiotics for 5–7 days, depending on healing.
Next Steps
If pain or swelling increases, consult your dentist.
Yes everytime after surgery pain killers and antibiotics are prescribed to subside infection. Sometimes 5 days or even 7 days depending upon infection. Metapex also helps in eliminating infection.
Hi, generally there is no need of Metapex, but sometimes due to severe infection doctors generally apply Metapex to absorb infection in that area.
Antibiotics would be continued for 5 days following surgery & painkillers for 3 days or sos.
Hello,
Metapex dressing is placed before surgery to reduce infection and inflammation inside the root canal and surrounding bone. Even if surgery is planned, controlling the infection from inside the tooth improves healing and reduces the size and activity of the cyst, making the surgical procedure safer and more predictable.
Pain or pressure in the nose area can occur because upper front teeth roots are very close to the nasal floor. This discomfort usually settles with time and prescribed painkillers.
After completing the root canal and cyst removal surgery, painkillers are generally required for 3–5 days, and antibiotics (if prescribed) are usually given for 5–7 days, depending on the surgical site and healing response.
Overall, the treatment plan advised by your dentist is appropriate and follows standard protocol. Make sure to follow medications as prescribed and attend follow-up visits for proper healing.
