Medicine side-effects
Hey doc! I was having pain in my sinuses as well as a runny nose. This started after I got cold. The sinus problem started on the 5th day . So someone from my family got some medicine from a local shop ... The Antibiotic "levofloxacin 500". I took one and I am feeling better. But when i looked it up on the internet I saw many and many articles state that this antibiotic can cause severe side effects like tendon damaged or psychosis. Should I stop taking it? I have taken only one pill. Is there any alternative to this?

Hi dear All the antibiotics have some or other side effects does not necessarily mean that u will get it every time I take an antibiotic. Also the chances of getting tendon damage or psychosis with just one tablet is minimal. Now coming to ur question about sinus pain and fever if it's viral which most likely should be . It gets relieved by just symptomatic therapy and any antibiotic is usually not required. So yes u can stop the antibiotic and if still u are having complaints please consult on practo so that we can discuss everything in detail and I will be able to help u with the treatment Take care

Patient's detailed medical history is required. It is recommended to consult a doctor professional through the Practo app or visit a local medical facility for a thorough evaluation. Please keep in mind that detailed medical history is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment.
