It depends on the cause of pain. Over the counter pain medicines/muscle relaxant will only alleviate pain (the symptom), and not cure the cause. It is important to identify the cause and treat the cause of the pain, rather than the pain itself. Is there a history of fall/sudden trauma/jerk to the back? Are you overweight/obese?
Next Steps
I would recommend an X-ray LS spine to rule out fracture or skeletal pathology, and consult with a physician for review. An MRI (non contrast) to rule out intracerebral disc/soft tissue pathology may be required, if deemed necessary by the physician on review of the X-ray. Till that time, Tab. Flexon-MR as required may be taken (not more than 4 tablets in 24 hours). Precaution should be taken to NOT consume the tablet on an empty stomach, as it may cause gastric ulcers.
Health Tips
1. Sudden jerks/movement of the back must be avoided. 2. McKenzie exercises on advise of physician/physiotherapist.
