I have gain almost 70 pounds on the medications i am taking and thinking about quitting them all

There are a few medicines that might cause weight gain as a side effect, but discontinuing them is not the solution. You should consult your psychiatrist and they might change your medicines. However if it is necessary for you to continue the same medicines for your mental well being, it is advised that you start extra physical activity in order to loose the extra weight. Quitting them all might cause withdrawal syndrome, worsening of mental illness or precipitation of a fresh episode, all of which are very harmful and hence should be avoided.

Hello, Medication can have side effects. Everything which affects will have side effects. Here you have to keep pros and cons. If you quit medications your illness will worsen. There are certain medication available which help in decreasing appetite caused by medication.

Don’t quit medication on your own. You could serious mis-match in your brain chemicals. That could lead to very dangerous consequences. Consult your doctor and express the strong desire to tone down your dosage. Slowly take it down to zero. But do not stop abruptly without consultation
