In some cases, a full bladder accentuates the visibility during ultrasound imaging. In other cases, it may distort the image we need to obtain ultrasound imaging. It's depends on what organ you want to visualise.A full bladder helps by pushing bowel out of the pelvis allowing transmission of ultrasound to target organs. Most women have an anteverted (tilted forwards) womb which unfortunately in some cases doesn't present the ideal angle to the sound transmission pathway.
