Usually weight bearing is allowed by the surgeon from 8-12 weeks of surgery and depending upon the procedure. However even in non weight bearing the patient must be encouraged for mobility using Walker and self care like using toilet and having bath independently. This will help in preventing flatulence and gaining excess weight. Patient will be progressively encouraged to partial weight bearing and then to full weight bearing. Low calorie calcium rich diet and use of probiotics will help in gastric issues for which you may consult a dietitian. Hope the information was useful to you.
