Ligament tear in ankle
I am diagnosed with full thickness tear of anterior inferior tibio fibular and calcaneo fibular ligament. I have pain only when I press there. I have no problem in walking or running though. I am a regular football playing person. What are the options of the treatment I can get.

Below knee cast for around 4  weeks with regular follow up and physiotherapy. Complete tear may not heal properly but most of ankle ligament tears can be treated without surgery. Sometimes even a complete ligament tear can heal without surgical repair if it is immobilized appropriately. Surgical treatment is reserved for those who experience  instability after months of nonsurgical treatment.

Generally athletes get ligament tear, in common words sprain due to excessive rotational force which will cause pain if not healed properly. Since you can able to walk and withstand the weight of your body normally chances of having fracture is less, so its ankle sprain which would have happened while you are playing football, generally it takes 6-8 weeks time to heal but if you resume your athletic activities in between without taking rest, you will have pain again. So consult a orhopedician for further management
