LFT Test Report
My ALT (SGPT) shows 42 in report and normal range is below 35. What's its significance and anything to worry about? I am soon starting ATT medicines.

Hello, Welcome and thanks for your query. You have nothing to worry. ALT is an automated test to detect any liver inflammation. The mild elevation from the upper normal range does not mean that you have any serious illness. To consider any significant inflammation, ALT should be elevated above 2 times the upper limit of normal ( 70 ). However it would be good to avoid alcohol and if you are overweight to reduce the weight. You should also check ALT again two weeks after starting ATT . Do get back to me if you have further queries.
