Knee problem
Hi I met with an accident on April 2016 . I injured my knee during the process . For initial few days I ignored thinking it's a small one and will cure . But 8 months passed my pain didn't seem to go . So I visited the doctor he advised me to go for a MRI and CT scan . After seeing the report the doctor told me I am suffering from petellar injury called chondromalacia petellar grade 3 . He then tested my vitamin d content inside my body and found that I have vitamin d deficiency . He prescribed be d must 60 k tablets once a week and gave me a few exercises and said if I stengthen my thighs my dislocated bone comes back to position . He even suggested me to go for some physiotherapy sessions . I went through all of it . Now two years over since my injury but still there are no signs of healing . The pain is from side of the knees with swelling of foot . Kindly suggest me if I need to undergo any kind of surgery to fix this problem

Hi. Mri reports and clinical examination has a lot of differences. Both clinical as well as radiological findings should match to decide the treatment. Many times the quadriceps weakness will cause tilting of patella and chondromalacia for which the treatment is strengthening exercises alone.
Next Steps
I think you should visit nearby orthopedic surgeon for clinical examination or Discuss on phone at practo consult with me for further assistance

There is a lateral tilt of your knee which is causing the thinning out of your knee cap that is what is called as chondromalacia patella.. Since you have already tried physiotherapy and medications..the next thing to do would be to undergo arthroscopy surgery.. During the surgery what is done is using a radio frequency probe we go ahead and stick back the frayed cartilage by using cobalation technique and for the ligament if require tightening is also done..

From your details and mri report it seems that patellar bone is not at its proper position due to which it’s getting damaged I think you should go for arthroscopy of knee to confirm your problem and also it can be dealt with arthroscopy only if its there
