Knee pain while climbing stairs
Knee pain since 7 yrs.painful stair climbing.1st right knee was painful now both are painful.no permanent relief with painkillers.

Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello there,,,,well there could be many reasons for knee pain...but the fact that you mentioned that you have pain while climbing stairs points out to a pecular problem called as chondromalacia patellae or runners knee.... also do you get pain when sitting for prolong period of time or on bending,squatting,kneeling?
Next Steps
you need specialised advise and proper physcial therapy assessment along with cartiledge supplimentation...as 7 years is a long time since you are having this problem.
