My doc has put a nwb half cast (splint) on my fracture. How do I know if the bone is healing? Since sometime I feel splint is getting loose and sometimes tight due to swelling. How many weeks do I need to be in splint?

Well the slab /splint is the right thing to do in your case, and to address the swelling it is advisable to keep the limb elevated most of the times using a pillow , weight bearing shouldn’t be attempted at this point! Continue Ami-inflammatories for the same and to see any significant change on a xray or signs of wound healing, you need to get a fresh xray minimum after 3 weeks , so till then relax!
