I had fracture on 26 may at the base of 5th metatrasal it was slightly displaced and gap .now it's been 5 week since fracture and I am in fiberglass cast .I am worried if it's still required surgery later or not cause I opted for rest and cast instead of surgery will it heal properly or will cause refracture in future.

Usually these fracture would be healed by now and less chances of refractures if doctors instructions are followed properly

Recent xray would be good for judgement… it is displaced since it is managed with cast you can wait for 6-12 weeks for the complete healing … till then you can continue immobilisation
This minor displacement is not an alarm to indicate surgery. Avoid full weghtbearing for some more weeks and twisting injury to the ankle and foot as in while climbing up or down the stairs.
