Jaws get lock
Whenever I yawn or take big bite my jaws get locked or stuck ,it is happening from last 3-4 years what should I do plz help doc??

Avoid very wide opening of the mouth .this is the lock jaw condition where the bones are not joined in a proper manner .consult especialist for the same.

The lock jaw is a condition that develops due to Jaw joint dysfunction. There are multiple causes involving the damage to cartilage, bone degeneration etc.

The exact cause needs to be properly diagnosed considering your age. Visit a dentist, he might suggest you to get some Xray done and then take the necessary treatment.

Until then always support your lower jaw with hand whenever you yawn and avoid opening your mouth too wide.

this can be due to any problem with the TMJ- temporomandibular joint (located just ahead of ear) which maintains opening and closing of the jaw, like disc deformity, bone resorption...

consult oral and maxillo facial surgeon for further advice and x ray or cbct scan of tmj IF needed.

avoid excessive mouth opening, support your jaw (at chin) by a hand while yawing, sneezing, coughing and laughing.
