This could be due to allergy
Try
A. Avoid rubbing eyes
B. Cold compresses
C. Use antiallergic eyedrop like epinastine twice daily along with lubricating eyedrop frequently
Having said that it is provisional diagnosis Kindly share photos of her eye so that I may guide you better
