Itching feeling
I am taking zosert 50 for 2 yrs. I had no symptoms. On 18th jul, I visited my psychiatrist. I m now well so he reduced the dose to 37.5mg. But after taking the dose for 2-3 days I m getting itching, pin, prick feeling. So he told me over phone to go back to the 50mg dose. I went back to the old dose from last Wednesday. But till now my itching and pin prick sensation is there. Is it bcz of the medication or anything else?? Kindly advice

Mild itching and tingling can be there .but if there’s generalized itching and rashes red and raised it may be urticaria.

Zosert 50mg is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). It can cause symptoms like itching, pin prick feeling. These sensory changes occur because serotonin receptors are present not just in your brain, but also throughout your skin nervous network. As your body adjusts to altered serotonin levels, these nerve endings can misfire, causing temporary, unusual sensation.  Give sometime for your body to adjust .

What you're experiencing is SSRI discontinuation syndrome — very common even with a small dose reduction of sertraline (Zosert). The itching and pin-prick (paresthesia) sensations are classic withdrawal symptoms. Since you've gone back to 50mg, these symptoms should gradually settle over 1–2 weeks as the drug level stabilises.
Next Steps
Stay on 50mg as advised. Don't reduce the dose again without a very slow taper next time. Give it 1–2 more weeks — symptoms should resolve. If they persist beyond 2 weeks or worsen, inform your psychiatrist. Consult me on Practo for further guidance.
