Increase in Blood protein
The patient experienced weakness. Blood tests revealed slight increase in serum protein level (9.4 g/dl), albumin n (6.5 g/dl). Though the serum creatinine is normal (0.77 mg/dl), the urine creatinine is slightly lower (13 mg/dl). Our doctor feels it could be due to dehydration and recommended drinking plenty of water, cutting on salt and protein. Is this prognosis right or some more tests are required to find out the actual cause. Is it a matter of concern?

Hello sir, need not to worry. If your serum urea & creatinine is normal then this slight increase in protein levels are from dehydration. Rest assured & stay hydrated. Continue as your doctor advice.

Increase in mere serum protein in not a disease condition itself. As your doctor rightly has pointed it out .Have plenty of fluids .Also please mention patients age and does he have any other factors like hypertension or diabetes? If s.proteins still remain high ,further evaluations might be needed.
