Rabies is not confirmed by any test.
In fact we go purely by the history of the patient to develop a suspicion that the patient might have been exposed to a Rabid animal and hence should be given ARV .
If we wait for the test for Rabies, the patient (if he has actually been exposed to Rabies infection) , would be dead by the time the report comes.
We can do only antibodies titre against Rabies.
And that antibodies titre is useful in determining whether you need a booster dose or not.
