If my TSH level is 12.53 , is it necessary to get USG thyroid done? And should I start medicines for it?

If u do not have any swelling in the neck usg may not be required- physical examination may be good enough. With tsh of 12.53 medications have to be started. A repeat tsh after 6/8 weeks of taking medication along with a TPO antibody level

Yes u need to start medication for this TSH level as it is more than 10. That the TSH value recommended to start. U can start 25 mcg once daily in empty stomach. Usg thyroid is not urgent but can be done once.

If your neck swelling is diffuse one with no palpable nodules no need of usg thyroid.... For high TSH definitely will need medication.. So kindly consult Endocrinologist for same..!!
