Hyper Active
My son is hyperactive and to much attached to me . I am not able to focus on anything as I have to keep engaging him . Is being hyper active common at this age of 2.8 years? .what should be done to calm him ? Does he need medical attention ? . He is healthy and is aware of of rhymes and nursery studies .my only worry is him him being hyper for which both me and my wife  have to keep him engaged or have to show him cartoons .he is mostly not playing by himself when I am at home .

Hello practo user I can understand the concern you are currently facing regarding your child .Children at this young age tend to be curious of their surroundings and like exploring things and activities . The above mentioned symptoms could be indicative of hyperactivity disorder . You can try and take him to the park as exerting extra energy on physical activities is helpful . You can also try and reduce the sugar intake if it is on the higher side . The symptoms are manageable . It is advisable that you seek help from a clinical psychologist who can evaluate the child and teach you coping strategies as well . It can be ADHD but cannot conform it at this age. Consult a psychiatrist / Child psychiatrist for further evaluation..

Hyperactivity is a condition seen in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity. You should consult a Clinical Psychologist to rule out the severity of hyperactivity. ADHD is not dignosed until child is 6 years old. However early intervention is good. The Clinical Psychologist will guide you ways to channelize the child's energy.
