It may also develop in boys and adult men due to any injury or inflammation or due to any surgery within the scrotum. In rare cases, hydroceles may occur with cancer of the testicle or the left kidney. This type of hydrocele can occur at any age but is most common in men older than 40. Surgery may be recommended if your hydrocele is large or uncomfortable. The fluid can be drained easily with a needle and syringe.
