HSV 1, cold sores

My wife has a constant problem of appearance of lesions in her lower lip portion. She is having this problem since last 13-15 years but it has increased its frequency of appearance. She is having the lesions every month. The lesions are fluid filled, itchy, inflammatory and has a burning sensation. She consulted a dermatologist once and was diagnosed with HSV-1 but it hasn't stopped. Kindly help.

See a qualified dermatologist - and do titres for hsv testing if needed 2. check for immunodeficiency states - including diabetes and others - as per the tests recommended by your dermatologist 3. use a sunscreen regualrly - this is helpful 4. you may need suppressive doses of aciclovir for few months Caution: Make sure you see a qualified MD / DNB/ DVD dermatologist for all your skin and hair issues.
